Single Sideband – A modulation method that suppresses the carrier and one of the sidebands. SSB uses transmitter power more efficiently than Amplitude Modulation (AM). SSB is commonly used for voice transmissions on HF amateur bands, and is also used for weak-signal voice transmissions on VHF and higher bands. See also LSB and USB.
