Walk MS Portland Event Communications

Multnomah County ARES is honored to have been asked by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society to provide communications support for their Walk MS event again this year. In years past this event has been well regarded as a training and public service event for the Amateur Radio community.

The event takes place on Saturday, April 18 from 07:00 to 12:30, and is being held at the Portland Convention Center Plaza. Most volunteers will need to be on-site from 08:30 to approximately 12:00.

We will need radio operators for net control and logging, monitoring the event route and reporting any safety or medical issues, and shadowing Walk MS event staff. A 2 meter handheld with a good antenna and a strong battery is sufficient for most assignments. A headset would also be helpful but is not strictly required.
